At the early 21st century, after the 10 years of preparation, Okinawan determined to be independent. They already studied all aspect of the independence and even come up with an idea to acquire funds for the new government using loopholes between the international and the domestic law.
On 14th May, 2010, the day of the celebration of the independence, Okinawa catches the mainland government surprise. The government has believed the day is merely a tourist attraction and the declaration of intention wooing the public opinion. By the half day till the celebration, the independence group has taken major government bodies in Okinawa by mediocre fraudulently. There are no Japanese law under which taking the power and the territory by fraud punishable crime.
After establishing the effective rule over Okinawa, the governor, who now also holds the post of presidency of Okinawan government concurrently, declared "Okinawa won't be independent from Japan". Okinawa separates its administration from the mainland government. As far as Okinawa is not independent from Japan, a subsidy from the nation to the region must be paid full.
Okinawa has made its independent government as a voluntary and auxiliary body while keeping the regional government as it has been. The mainland government has legal obligation to pay a subsidy as it still considers Okinawa one of its region. And if the mainland government let Okinawa be independent entity, the obligation to pay reparations for the past colonial rule will arose.
But Okinawa cannot be independent easily. How effective is the guerrilla warfare of the intelligence by Okinawa against the mainland government which imposes an economic blockade breaking its own domestic law? Will Japanese military force be mobilized against Okinawa? What is the computer virus which destroy only a Japanese computer? What will be the identity of Okinawan? After the 5 months of economic warfare, the rescue comes from an unexpected direction. What is the American scenario by acting as a honest broker to secure influences in the Far East?
The story is a reference novel for beginners who want to study international relations especially concerning Okinawa and Japan.
On the Author Born in 1956. Single. 1975; entered the University of Ryukyu. After the graduation; became a civil servant in Okinawa and then an international civil servant. Worked in the Middle East, the South East Asia and Balkan to help (a little) a nation rebuild itself anew after a ethnic conflict or a civil war. Concluded "an independence is not too difficult" from the experience. Decided to write this novel out of indignation over recent discriminations by the Japanese government. Okinawa can be independent.
